About Jessica Watson
My name is Jessica Watson, M.D., and as a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon, I evaluate and treat patients with medical and surgical diseases of the vitreous and retina. These include diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, retinal detachments, macular pathology, and macular degeneration. I am a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, and board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
I am a graduate of Dartmouth College, and I received my medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After an internal medicine internship in North Carolina, I completed an ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. I then completed a two-year surgical retina fellowship at the University of Iowa. Prior to joining Northern Light Health, I practiced for nearly four years in Portland, Maine.
My husband, who grew up in southern Maine and who also is a physician at Northern Light, and I live with our two children in the greater Bangor area. When not at work or school, you can find us outside exploring any number of the lakes, woods, and mountains of Maine.
