David Gast, MD

Dr. Gast is a physiatrist who provides care in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Dr. Gast earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He completed his internship at St. John Hospital in Detroit and his residency at Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. He is NBME certified and board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

He brings more than 30 years of experience in physiatry and pain management to the hospital. He is skilled in electromyography and nerve conditions studies, as well as ultrasound-guided injections.
Prior to coming to Presque Isle, Dr. Gast was a physiatrist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. He has experience providing care in both hospital and private practice settings, caring for acute rehabilitation patients, and serving as a medical director for a pain clinic.

Dr. Gast joins our current physiatrist, Walter Wofford, MD, allowing AR Gould to expand pain management services, such as once again offering EMGs as a diagnostic tool for better determining a treatment plan for patients suffering from pain. Dr. Gast will also be working with our amputee and wheelchair clinics.

Dr. Gast and his wife, Caren, have bought a home in the area and are looking forward to once again living in a more rural area. The two love the outdoors and look forward to enjoying opportunities to go hiking, kayaking, biking, and x-country skiing.
