About Julie Hazelton
I grew up in Maine, the daughter of a small-town family physician. Watching my father with patients and hearing him talk about his work sparked my interest in caring for people. I started my work in the field of oncology in 1989 as an RN and spent a year of my practice with a traveling agency, working at hospitals such as Dana-Farber and the University of Chicago in the fields of research and bone marrow transplant. I then settled just outside of the D.C. area in Northern Virginia for a number of years.
After returning to Maine to get my master’s degree and Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I worked with the homeless for the City of Portland for six years. I joined the New England Cancer Specialists team in 2006 and worked there full time while raising 2 daughters until June, 2024.
I moved from the greater Portland area to the Blue Hill Peninsula in June, 2024 and am excited to join a growing practice at the Mary Dow Cancer Center in Ellsworth.
