Kathryn Wadland, MD

Dr. Wadland is a board-certified OB/Gyn who believes in the value of  close, positive doctor-patient relationships. She provides outstanding, personalized gynecology care including annual preventative care and gynecologic surgeries including hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and minimally invasive hysterectomy. Dr. Wadland cares for a wide variety of obstetric patients and feels privileged to support them through their journey to motherhood.

Dr. Wadland grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, the Cherry Capitol of the World. As a girl, she aspired to be the Cherry Queen, but eventually decided medicine would be a more productive path. She attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan where she had the opportunity to spend a semester in the Dominican Republic studying at the University in Santiago and volunteering at a local hospital. She became fluent in Spanish and skilled at the Merengue! She went on to attend Michigan State University College of Human Medicine where she met her husband and fell in love with him and the field of OB/Gyn.

Dr. Wadland and her husband, Ross, moved to Maine for residency at Maine Medical Center. After residency, she joined a private practice and continued to work at Maine Medical Center, but soon was drawn to Mercy Women’s Health and the compassionate, patient-centered care at the birthplace. She experienced firsthand the magic of the birthplace during the birth of her first son in 2010 and her second son in 2012. She joined Mercy Women’s Health in 2010 and cherishes giving compassionate care to women during some of the most powerful moments of their lives.

Her hobbies include cooking (especially heirloom beans), running, and spending time with her husband and two boys. They enjoy all things outdoors; particularly boating and fishing on Casco Bay, skiing, playing pond hockey in their neighborhood, camping in their pop-up camper, and hiking with their Collie, Fergus.
