About Samuel Michel

Dr. Michel was born and raised in the suburbs of Boston. He attended Harvard College and graduated with high honors studying molecular and cellular biology. Dr. Michel then attended Johns Hopkins University for medical school and completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Colorado. He began his surgical career in private practice in Olympia, Washington, before moving back to New England to join the Northern Light Mercy team.

Dr. Michel performs a wide variety of general surgery procedures including gallbladder and appendix removal, inguinal and ventral hernia repair (including complex abdominal wall reconstruction), small intestine and colon resection, hiatal hernia repair, and excision of soft tissue masses and lymph nodes. He performs the majority of his abdominal procedures with minimally invasive (laparoscopic or robotic) techniques and takes pride in tailoring the surgical plan to each patient's individual situation to achieve the best and most durable outcome.
