About Sean Barnett

I grew up in Dayton Ohio where my mother was a nurse and my father a furniture salesman. I traveled the country and Canada playing hockey as a child and through college. I have degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Human Anatomy, Cancer Biology, and of course Medicine.

My training was centered around General Surgery with fellowships in both Surgical Infectious Diseases and General Pediatric / Thoracic Surgery. I have spent most of my career in large academic centers, publishing multiple research papers and book chapters. Teaching residents and medical students is a joy, and you will often see trainees with me. I enjoy playing ice hockey, reading, and spending time with my children outside of the hospital.

I was drawn to Pediatric Surgery initially due to the breadth of training and the difficult procedures that we perform. I am also the proud father of 3 wonderful children who are my entire world. As a father, I understand the apprehension, skepticism, and outright fear that many parents have when dealing with the medical profession, not to mention surgery. I take my ability to care for children of all ages as a gift. There is no responsibility greater than having a parent trust you to perform surgery on their most prized possession. When I care for your child, they are my child, and I treat them as such.

I am proud of each and every one of my patients and have an entire wall of my office full of pictures that they have colored. This keeps me grounded and reminds me of the small but special part I play in every patient’s life. You will always get my very best and I do everything to ensure the best surgical outcome for your child.
