About Stephen Rodrigue

Stephen Rodrigue, MD is a board-certified surgeon specializing in total hip and knee replacement, as well as partial knee replacement, using a unique approach with minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is a recognized specialist by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
A surgeon for over twenty years, Dr. Rodrigue is valued by his patients for his compassionate bedside manner and easy, relatable style. Clinically, he emphasizes an organized, team approach to patient care, which has enabled a well-established record of optimal surgical outcomes. In pursuit of this goal, Dr. Rodrigue has established clinical pathways for same-day discharge of total knee and hip patients, as well as pain management protocols with minimal narcotic use. He performs approximately 700 surgeries per year and is actively involved in patient satisfaction studies.
Dr. Rodrigue is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction. He previously served as the Maine Representative for the New England Orthopaedic Society, Chairman for the Southern Maine Orthopaedic Management Company, and President of the Maine Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
A native of Maine, Dr. Rodrigue received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, completing his internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Harvard Orthopaedic program, focusing on traumatic bone injuries and reconstructive joint replacement.
Dr. Rodrigue resides in Falmouth, Maine with his wife, Dianne. They have four children, now grown. When he is not in surgery, Dr. Rodrigue enjoys fly fishing, surfing, and snowboarding. He’s also been known to restore an antique car or two.
